If deep tissue is where you feel most at home, if you love finding the knot that’s been sitting under a client’s shoulder blade for a year, Miami Beach is a great place to build a massage career. At Miami Massage Therapy we’re looking for licensed therapists who are strong in deep tissue and curious about the Asian bodywork traditions that make deep work smarter, not harder.
Deep tissue is the foundation
Most of our clients come in with the same story: neck and shoulders locked up from the laptop, a lower back that complains after the flight, hips that never fully open. Deep tissue is how we answer that. Slow, focused pressure along the muscle fibers and fascia, working with the client’s breathing instead of against it. Therapists who read the body well, and who know when to stay and when to move on, are the ones clients ask for by name.
Massage isn’t only about the muscles. Research has found that massage lowers cortisol and raises serotonin and dopamine (Field et al., 2005). That calm is a big part of why clients rebook. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health keeps a good summary of the evidence for anyone who wants to go deeper.
Asian styles: depth with less strain on your hands
This is where we’re different. Our team trains hands-on in the Asian traditions that give deep work its leverage:
- Ashiatsu: barefoot massage using overhead bars for balance (that’s our studio in the photo). Long, broad, deep strokes using body weight instead of thumbs.
- Tui Na: the Chinese therapeutic massage of pressing, rolling and kneading along the body’s channels, precise and rhythmic.
- Thai massage: assisted stretching and rhythmic compressions that open the hips and spine.
